Swaby Whitepit Primitive Methodist chapel
Pinfold Lane Whitepit Swaby LN13 0AZ
Keith Guyler 1998
Swaby is north west of Alford. Swaby Primitive Methodist chapel was in the hamlet of Whitepit and was usually referred to by that name.
Swaby Primitive Methodist chapel dates from 1852. After closure it became a joiner’s shop. On Google Street View in 2011 it appears little used.
The Prims acquired in 1886 a chapel that had been built by the Free Methodists in 1869.
Headstones of the 1839 & 1866 Wesleyan Methodist and 1869 Free Methodist buildings are beside the chapel.
The chapel closed in 1926. It was on the north side of the A16 just east of the junction with Pinfold Lane but I cannot find it on Street View.
