In the 1845 Primitive Methodist magazine, G Lamb reports the opening on August 4th 1844 of a new Primitive Methodist magazine at Swallow in the Grimsby circuit.
The building measured 28′ x 18.5′. It cost £98 towards which £48 had been raised at opening. The site was obtained from the local Lord, Lord Y, – the petition was received with the greatest kindness and the plot granted with the nominal price of 1 shilling a year.
The 1887 and 1905 Ordnance Survey maps show a Primitive Methodist chapel on the eastern Cuxwold Road, south of the village. It’s a corner of a field on Street View in 2021.
