Rougham Primitive Methodist Chapel, Norfolk

This is a picture of Rougham PM Chapel in Norfolk, which is now disused and sadly somewhat derelict. It was attended by the families of two of my great-grandparents, the Sculphers and the Morleys.  My great-grandparents, George and Mary Sulpher were still living in Rougham when my grandmother, Alice, was born and I have a copy of her baptism certificate.  She was baptised in this chapel on 29th December 1884 by John Buck and it is recorded in  the PM Register of the Lynn (King’s Lynn) Circuit.

  • I see that Jane Richardson offered scans of old photo’s in 2016 but there is no email address.

As a local historian in Weasenham, I’d love to see any pictures of Rougham please, to add to my research. Many of my family lived in Rougham, as well as Weasenham, so I am always interested in anything relating to local history. I remember going to this Chapel in the 1970’s.

  • I have scans of eleven photo postcards of Rougham, dating from the early 1900s: the scenes include pupils outside the school, the village well, post office, the street and the square. I would be very happy to email these to anyone who might be interested to see them.
