The 1878 Primitive Methodist magazine contains a note of the opening of a neat minister’s house at Millfield in the Lowick station Primitive Methodist chapel.
It cost £500: the late Mrs Thomas Clarke left £100 and her sister Mrs Cowell gave £150
The Primitive Methodist magazine gave no indication as to where the manse, the chapel – and come to that Millfield – were, beyond saying it was “on the Borders”. Thanks to Nigel McMurray for submitting the comment below for the solution.

Thanks for the solution Nigel. I have added the location map to the page – together with the invitation to submit a picture.
Millfield is a small township in north Northumberland between Cornhill-on-Tweed and Wooler just a few miles south of the Border. Its Methodist chapel survived as a worshiping community until last year (2020) when the impact of Covid resulted in its congregation being no longer able to sustain it. It was formerly in the Lowick Primitive Circuit and recently in the Lindisfarne Circuit. Obviously the chapel building remains and is just 100 yards to the east of the main road in Millfield. I have no knowledge of the former manse.
