Kenstone Primitive Methodist chapel

Richard Cordingley tells us in the Primitive Methodist magazine of 1846 that a Primitive Methodist chapel has been opened at Kenstone.

I cannot find the chapel on late Nineteenth Century Ordnance Survey maps.  Where was it and what happened to it?

This is the account:

Kenstone, in the Prees circuit.— October 25th, a beautiful Primitive Methodist chapel was opened here ; when appropriate sermons were preached by Mr. John Morton, from Darlaston, and Thomas Brocras, Esq., of Capthorne house, near Salop. So large was the attendance in the afternoon, that while the latter gentleman occupied the pulpit, Mr. Morton had to preach in the open air. A gracious influence was felt at the services, liberal collections were obtained ; and the friends who came from a distance were hospitably entertained by those of the place.

This chapel is central, or there abouts, for three villages, situate in a district of the most beautiful and romantic scenery. Great attention has been paid to ventilation and other comforts, while economy has been strictly observed. For the advantages possessed by the erection, and these are numerous, we are indebted to Mr. Samuel Morris, of Hodnet, who has skilfully and kindly superintended the workman ship.

The chapel is nine yards by six, outside ; its cost, and the money received towards it, we are not yet able to state, but they will be furnished to our friends at a future period. However, we have plea sure in remarking that the liberal donations which have been secured, added to the excellent collections, afford ground for believing that the debt will be small ; and even this, the friends will most likely soon discharge. Richard Cordingley.”

  • Have a look at this website:

    https://gridreferencefinder.com/

Then put in the grid ref: SJ596287

This will give you the approximate site of the chapel & allow you to find it on the 25″ O.S. map (west of Hodnet). The chapel seems to have been demolished.
