Tipton Railway Street Primitive Methodist chapel

Railway St, Great Bridge, Tipton DY4 7AD

The 1867 Register of chapels lists four Primitive Methodist chapels in Tipton – Aston Street, Bell Street, Railway Street and Toll End.

The chapel in Railway Street appears on the 1885  and 1904 Ordnance Survey maps.  By the 1913 map it is labelled as a cinema, although it retains the same footprint.  On Street View in 2009 there is a terrace of modern houses on the site.

The Annals of Tipton website tells us a little more.  The chapel was built in 1859  and seated 380, with an average attendance of 250.
