Pont-Erwyd in Cwmrheidol, Ceredigion

The 1889 published OS Map states a Primitive Methodist Chapel stands in the village of Pont-Erwyd in Cwmrheidol, Ceredigion at NGR SN 7488 8090. From the little I can find on the Chapel I can tell you it was originally built as a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in 1800 and was then rebuilt again in 1821. Then in 1854 the current building was enlarged which is the information and main date given on the foundation stone. If this was rebuilt and enlarged as a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel or at one of these points had become the Primitive Methodist Chapel stated on the 1889 OS map is not clear. The Chapel still stands today and is still in very good repair and still used as a place of worship but is no longer a Primitive Methodist Chapel. A number of images are available to view on the Coflein Welsh Monuments Database Web pages.
