The 1851 Census of Public Places of Religious Worship contains a report for the Primitive Methodist chapel at Atworth. The report was completed by John Maidland Smith, of Victoria Cottage, Chippenham, a local preacher.
The chapel opening date is given as 1843. Attendance on Census Sunday was 54 in the morning and 62 in the afternoon.
