The return from Teffont Magna Primitive Methodist chapel in the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship was completed by Henry Peney, the steward, of Teffont Evias.  On Census Sunday services were held in the afternoon when 40 people attended and the evening when the attendance was 80 people.

The chapel was erected in 1850 and the denomination is identified as Ranters.
