The first Primitive Methodist Church at the Quay was built in 1833 on the Esplanade and was known as “the Ranter’s chapel”.  On Methodist Union in 1932, Quay Primitive Methodist chapel became Central Methodist.

The site of the Central Methodist Church is now occupied by Iceland Supermarket.

Eric Fell has set out a well researched account of the history of Methodism in Bridlington on the Circuit website.
