In the 1849 Primitive Methodist magazine Richard Davies tells us that on the 10th December 1848 “a beautiful little chapel” had been opened at Newmillerdam “by a chain of interesting providences” .
The chapel was in the Wakefield circuit.
The 1891 Ordnance Survey map shows us a chapel on Barnsley Road which is still there as Miller Court in residential use. That building carries the date 1880, so is a later chapel. Is it on the same site?
