Middleham Circuit 1876 Q1

Most unusually, this Circuit Plan includes a hymn, “O Christians awake”, with the rousing chorus “Stand like the brave”. This was too good an opportunity to miss, so you will find an audio recording at the foot of this page performed by Baroque soprano Caroline Sharpe. You can also download an enlarged scan of the hymn.

There is no indication of the source of the hymn, but various Google resources attribute the words to Frances Jane (Fanny) Crosby (1820-1915) and the tune to William Bradbury and Philip Phillips
