Samuel Barber

First black PM Preacher

My first contribution – it’s going to be brief!  However, I am the direct great, great, great grandson of Samuel Barber, the first black Primitive Methodist preacher.  He was with William Clowes in the beginning (saved on the same day!) and is a great inspiration to me in my Christian life.  I have published John Smith’s biography of him ‘A Memoir of Samuel Barber’ (from the Primitive Methodist Magazine, 1829).

  • I am very interested in this page – I am just putting up again a page I had first created elsewhere in 2007, on Francis Barber, the father of Samuel Barber. Francis Barber was born in Jamaica in the first half of the 18th century, and the site containing the page about his life deals with just a few of the Jamaicans who have gone to places all around the world and made an impact. I hope the site may prove of interest! – http://jamaicansabroad.weebly.com/-francis-barber.html
