Transcription of Magazine ‘Sketch’

The subject of our sketch was born in Hutton Rudby, and who has not heard of Hutton Rudby? The queen of North Riding villages and the strategic centre of the late venerable William Clowes’ missionary operations to the hardy North in the days of long ago. Mr. Hall is an ideal circuit chancellor, genial, painstaking, business-like, trusted and highly esteemed among his brethren. He sees beyond what is merely parochial, and Connexional interests loom large with him. He is a thorough Primitive Methodist, an ardent lover of his Church, and a missionary enthusiast. Besides being circuit chancellor, he fulfils the duties of local preacher, Sunday School superintendent, president of the Christian Endeavour, and choirmaster, and being in the prime of life much valuable service may yet be expected of him. He is diligent in his attendance at District Committee, has once been to District Meeting, and once represented his district at Conference.
