Smith, David (abt1826-1911)

Transcription of obituary In the Christian Messenger

MR. DAVID SMITH entered into the fuller service May 16th, 1911, aged 86 years. He was a useful local preacher of Longworth Society, Faringdon Circuit. Sabbath before he died he walked from his home in Hinton to Longworth, one mile, times, such was his love for the sanctuary, and on the Tuesday following was translated.

Seldom, perhaps, within so short a space of time, has the call been so insistent among the lay preachers of a wide, struggling Circuit, where workers are so few and the demands so clamant, reminding us all that “the night cometh, when no man can work.”
