Mundy, Elizabeth (abt1826-1900)

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

MRS. ELIZABETH MUNDY, of Southsea, Portsmouth Circuit, passed away to her reward on May 24th, 1900, being in her 74th year. For more than 30 years she had been connected with our Somers Road Society, and her death will be deeply regretted by those who have known her for so many years. She often spoke of the preachers of past days, and the toils and triumphs of years ago. She was a regular attendant at the public services, a ready helper in all she could do for the Master’s cause. Her genial smile was an inspiration to all who were brought in contact with her, and her cheery words comforted many hearts. For some time before her death she was a great sufferer, and had to be taken to Portsmouth Hospital. While there her sufferings were very great, but through them all she rejoiced in the presence and help of our Lord Jesus Christ. Her thankful spirit to God for His saving grace caused her to praise Him, and it was a means of grace to visit her in the Hospital. She passed away fully trusting in Jesus, and in ‘sure and certain hope of the resurrection to life eternal.’ A memorial service, largely attended, was conducted by the Rev. S. Ainsworth in the Somers Road Church. May we meet our sister again on the other shore.

I have not been able to identify Elizabeth in census returns. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
