Warburton, Ellen (1807-1837)

Ellen Warburton was born April 24, 1807, at Ansty in Leicestershire.  Her parents were industrious and strictly moral, but unacquainted with experimental religion.  Ellen was moral in her conduct, and often wrought upon by the Spirit of God.  She, however, resisted the Spirit, until the death of her sister; who, previously to her happy death, exhorted Ellen to give her heart to God, and to fill up her place in the church, both as a member, and a Sunday school Teacher, and seat-holder.

Soon after this Ellen was powerfully alarmed under a sermon, and went home sorrowing.  In a few days she was enabled to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and obtained liberty, joined society, and was an ornament in the church, and a lover of the ordinances of God, and was never absent from the means unless prevented by illness.  She was permitted to hear Bro. Morgan preach his first sermon at Ansty, July 11, 1836, which was the last sermon she heard.

From this time she was confined to her home by a heavy and protracted affliction, and was often severely tried, but God comforted her.  I and others visited her, and found her conquering through faith.  After having been a year in the furnace, the Lord, on July 11, 1837, took her to himself.  Brother Morgan preached her funeral sermon to a very full and serious congregation.
