Ashworth, Mary (1777-1837)
Mary Ashworth was born February 11, 1777, and was steady in her conduct. About two years before her death, she sought pardon by faith in Christ, at a Lovefeast held at Rochdale by Bro. Hutchinson; found peace with God, became a steady member; was attentive to the spiritual welfare of her family, reading to them the word of God; and had the happiness to see three of them brought to the Lord; and one of them a travelling preacher, namely, Bro. Hugh Ashworth; and she prayed much for his prosperity.
April 19, 1837, being taken suddenly ill, she said to her daughter Mary, “I must die,” — commended her soul to God, — was soon senseless; and in a few hours fell asleep in the 60th year of her age, leaving six children to lament their loss.
