Beadle, Richard (1847-1915)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine

In the death of Mr. Beadle, at the age of sixty-seven, on March 5th, 1915, our Strensall Society has suffered a great loss. Born at Bulmer, near Castle Howard, in his early days his parents removed to Harton, in the York I, Circuit, where Richard began his life-long connection with our Church. It is forty years ago since he and his devoted wife came to Strensall, where he took up the duty of class leader and commenced our Sunday school, and served it as superintendent to the day of his death.

In his home life he was blessed. with peace and encouragement. His character and conduct secured in him the confidence and esteem of the entire locality. He was a member of the Parish Council from its beginning, and held the chairmanship the last three years of his life.

He was interred on March 8th, when the Vicar, Rev. W.M. Osborne, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. Reavley. Much sympathy is felt for his widow and family.
