Chun, Thomas (1845-1901)
Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger
The Broad Town Society in the Brinkworth Circuit has suffered a great loss by the death of Bro. Thomas Chun, who passed in the ‘Rest of God‘ June 25th, 1901. Our brother became a member of the Broad Town Society about 1870, and the Society recognising his gifts recommended him for the plan in June, 1875. Our brother was a good man and the influence of his character abides. He was greatly appreciated throughout the circuit as a preacher and was often requested for Camp meetings and Revival services. He was class leader of the Broad Town Society, and there he will be sorely missed. Our brother’s last illness was of a very trying nature, but by grace he triumphed over the weakness of the flesh.
‘Lo, falls the sound of harping rare,
Slowly falling through the upper air;
The perfumed air, with sweetness fed,
More fine than whitest lily bed.
Beyond earth’s changeful fashioning,
Beyond the sweep of death’s wide wing,
Beyond the last dark fall of shade,
That home of endless life is made.’
‘Thou wilt show me the Way of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy, at Thy right hand there are pleasures forever more.’
