Faulding, Robert West (1830-1912)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine

Mr. Robert West Faulding passed away on the 16th Oct., 1912, at the ripe age of eighty-two. Born October 7th, 1830, his father and mother were both local preachers in the Tetney Circuit; his mother, especially, being very popular. On conversion he joined the church at Waltham in the Tetney Circuit, with which he rendered splendid service as trustee and Society steward. An ardent temperance reformer, it was largely through his efforts, supported by others, that a commodious temperance hall was built at Waltham. For many years he was a member of the Managers of the Wesleyan Day School at Waltham.

In 1897 he retired from business and went to reside at North Kelsey. Here, although sixty-seven years of age, he threw himself with unabated zeal into temperance work, and our cause, too, found in him a true friend and generous helper. A bright, genial brother, he was always ready to help the sorrowing and the needy.

He was interred in Waltham Cemetery, October 19th, the service being conducted by Revs. A. Naylor, W. Hayton, Thomas Storr and James Shaw. He leaves a widow, son and daughter to mourn his departure.
