Feast, Rhoda (nee Ball) (1845-1902)

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

MRS. R. FEAST.— On Thursday, April 10th, Sister. Rhoda Feast, of the Wallingford Society, entered into rest after 20 years of suffering. Thirty-six years ago she entered a little Primitive Methodist Chapel in Highworth, Wiltshire, and was there convinced of sin. Soon after she entered into the assured knowledge of sins forgiven. During the whole of those years she had been true to the principles of her church. In her early womanhood she was an active worker in the Sunday school.

About 30 years ago she married Bro. R. Feast, a local preacher in Wallingford Circuit. Twenty years ago she became afflicted, and though unable to fulfil the active duties of a mother, yet her children’s welfare was constantly borne upon her heart, and for them her constant prayers have been answered because they are all followers of Jesus, and members of our church. It was beautiful to see the quiet resignation that characterised her. Though she had suffered for many years there was no murmuring, but a quiet thankfulness that grace had been given, that her husband and children had been kind and faithful, and that Jesus coming to take her to rest would not be long delayed. The evening which was also the dawn came at last, and our sister left the “tabernacle” for the “House” in the fifty-seventh year of her age. “Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth.” Our sister has left behind her a sweet memory of long suffering patiently borne. “They are not lost, whom we lose in Him,  Whom we cannot lose.”
