Hunter, William Edwin (1856-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine

The Patrington Circuit has suffered a heavy loss through the passing away of Mr. W.E. Hunter, of Withernsea. For thirty-three years he was a consistent member, and a local preacher for thirty-two years.

During his residence in Hull he was for several years secretary of the Hessle Road Trust. He attended the District Meeting three times, and was a delegate to the Newcastle Conference. For some years he was a member of the Sculcoates Board of Guardians, a member of the old Hull School Board, and chairman of the Newland Ward Liberal Association.

His death came with tragic suddenness on October 20th, 1914. He was gentle in spirit and unassuming in disposition, and will be greatly missed. His son, Rev. W.C. Hunter, is now serving on the Hull Sixth Circuit. We pray that the bereaved widow and son may be divinely sustained.
