Jones, Mary Ann (nee Hetherington) (1848-1913)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by J.B.

For about half a century Mrs. Jones was intimately connected with Liverpool Primitive Methodism. Born at Penrith, sixty-five years ago, she came with her parents to Liverpool when quite a child, and forty-five years since was united in matrimony to Mr. Morris Jones, an earnest local preacher and temperance advocate, and at the present time steward of the Liverpool Third Circuit.

She and her husband were the first teachers enrolled when the Zion Sunday School was formed, and they have never left the Church of their early days, but have given to it during the unfolding of the years three daughters and four sons. Without stint has our sister given herself to her children and the work of the Church. To the Centenary Fund she and her husband contributed the handsome sum of sixty pounds.

After a long illness she passed “within the veil” on May 9th. The interment was largely attended, Revs. G. Armitage, T.A. Fairweather, G.T. Lovat, J. Watkin, and J. Burton taking part.
