Postle, Edward (1838-1905)

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

EDWARD POSTLE was born in Burgh, North Walsham Circuit, 1863, and, with the exception of a few weeks, all his life was passed there. He died in Norwich Hospital, January 20th, 1905, where five days before he had passed through an operation. He was a local preacher for about thirty years, and class-leader nineteen years, and society steward.

His wife preceded him across the river two years ago, a bereavement which he never really got over. He was highly respected for his work’s sake.

Edward began his working life as an agricultural labourer but sometime before the 1881 census he started to work as a labourer on the navigable rivers of Norfolk.

Edward married Emily Jobson (1833-1902) in late 1859 in the Tunstead Registration District, Norfolk.

Edward’s probate record identifies that he died on 11 January 1905.
