Preston, Sarah (1773-1837)

Died at Bronnington, in the Prees circuit, June 8, 1837, Sarah Preston, aged sixty -four years.

In 1822, Bro. William Doughty came to preach at Bronnington, and during family visiting, he called at our house.  This manner was so agreeable, that my mother approved of his ministerial visit, and from that time was glad to see the preachers.

A good work broke out; several were converted to the Lord, and a society formed, from which were raised up three travelling preachers.

In 1824, I was taken out to travel by Burland circuit, and my mother became increasingly concerned for her soul, but did not obtain pardon till 1827.

The last time I saw her was at mid-summer 1832.  She was then living in the enjoyment of religion, and was desirous for the whole family to be brought to God.  June 14, 1837, I received a letter to say, that my dear mother was no more.

Fourteen yean I have prayed twice a day for my father, before my prayers appeared to be answered.  But now he is brought to the Lord; and I hope to meet him and my dear mother in heaven.  May God grant it for Christ’s sake.
