Rayner, Margaret (nee Brown) (1842-1866)

A transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by John B Rayner is attached. Margaret’s parents had both died by the time she was 17. She managed to bring up her her siblings rather than allow them to be separated.

She first met John in 1860 and they corresponded for five years before they married. Margaret died of consumption.

Family

Margaret was born on 26 September 1842 at Earn Well, Stanhope, Weardale, Co. Durham, to parents Joseph, a lead miner, and Emma.

She married John Buxton Rayner (1837-1886), a PM minister, in July 1865.

Margaret died on 20 June 1866 at Lancaster, Lancashire.
