Sims, Elizabeth (1754-1837)

Died at Bole Hill, Belper circuit, October 1, 1837, aged eighty-three years, Elizabeth Sims.  When the P. Methodists visited Bole Hill, our Sister had much to say against them.  However, it pleased God to put it into her heart to hear for herself; and in 1829, she joined the society, and continued a steady member until her decease.

I visited her in her last illness, and found she enjoyed much of the presence of God.  A few days before she died, she was much tempted by the enemy of souls, but obtained victory through the blood of the Lamb.  Some of her last words were, “Glory, glory to my Jesus. I do believe, I do believe.  O bless Jesus. I am happy, I am happy;” and shortly expired.  I improved her death Oct 15, 1837, at Bole Hill, to a large, attentive, and deeply affected audience.
