Stratton, Sarah Ann (Lewington) (1878-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by P.M. Richardson
The wife of Mr. Fred Stratton, trust secretary of the Cricklade Road Church, Swindon I., passed away at the age of thirty-six years on June 3rd, 1914. During a membership of twenty-one years Mrs. Strat- ton rendered great service “for Christ and the Church” in the Sunday school, Christian Endeavour, choir, and ladies’ sewing class, of which she was treasurer.
The Church cherishes the memory of a most cheerful and devoted member. Mrs. Stratton made her home a centre of warmth, light and cheerfulness, and inspired her husband in his arduous religious and political secretarial work. We deeply sympathise with Mr. Stratton and his children in their great bereavement, and pray that they may be Divinely sustained. Two children, a bright little girl of fourteen months and an intelligent boy of eleven years, are left motherless.
