Vincent, Rebecca (nee Pratt) (1859-1913)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by W.H.L.

Martham Circuit mourns the decease of one of its finest workers in the person of Mrs. Rebecca Vincent, of Hickling. For about thirty-six years she was the partner of Mr. Robert Vincent, a local preacher on the Circuit. In touch with Primitive Methodism from her earliest years, her heart opened early to the influences of the Lord. Nothing was too good to give and nothing too difficult to undertake for the Lord. Her life had some bitter experiences, but she found strength in the day of adversity. She toiled hard for the Saviour. She was ever considerate to the poor, and her home was always open to the brethren.

For several years our sister suffered greatly, but never murmured nor complained. The end came with painful suddenness on December 21st after an operation in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. Rev. W.H. Lawson conducted the interment in Hickling Church Burial Ground on December 27th, and the memorial service on December 28th. Our sympathy is extended to the family in their great loss.
