Wynn, Eleanor Margaret (nee Thornley) (1880-1915)
Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by J.S.B.
The death of Mrs. E.M. Wynn came with startling suddenness on April 4th at the early age of thirty-four years. She was the daughter of Rev. W. Thornley, of Chester, and the wife of Mr. Charles E. Wynn, of Maidstone.
By her decease the Bremer Street Church has suffered an irreparable loss, for hers was a life of rare beauty and unselfish devotion to the service of Jesus Christ. Residing some distance from town, she was not able to do all that was in her heart to do, but her loyalty and fidelity to the church she loved so well were very marked. She was generous to a fault, and no cause appealed to her in vain.
Her sufferings were severe, but they were borne with quiet uncomplaining fortitude; and so the end came with the stricken ones gathered round. The passing was peaceful and triumphant. We pray for the bereaved husband and the aged parents the comfort of the Almighty Father.
Eleanor was born on 19 May 1880 at Northwich, Cheshire, to parents William Thornley, a PM minister, and Margaret Moore. She was baptised on 23 January 1881 at Warrington, Lancashire.
She married Charles Ellis Wynn (1881-1959), assistant superintendent Prudential Assurance Co (1911), in the summer of 1906 at Chester, Cheshire.
Eleanor died on 4 April 1915 at Maidstone, Kent.
