George was baptised on 23 October 1836 at West Bilney, Norfolk. His parents were Robert, a labourer, and Frances.

George worked as an agricultural labourer before entering the ministry.

Comments about this page

  • George appears to have felt called to a non-itinerant ministry, as he became a Congregationalist minister. He became minister at Mendlesham Independent chapel, in Suffolk, at some point between 1866 and 1869. In April 1870 he was ordained as minister of Marpool Independent chapel in Heanor, Derbyshire, where he remained until his death on 28 March 1908.

He married Catherine Hardy in Heanor in the second quarter of 1871. She died in Buxton on 13 October 1902. They appear to not have had children.
