Family
Charles was baptised on 20 April 1851 at Wereham, Norfolk. He was born at Gorleston, Suffolk to mother Ann. Ann later married James Taylor, a shepherd, and the family lived at Fincham, Norfolk.
Charles worked as a wheelwright and carpenter before entering the ministry.
Charles was President of the New Zealand Conference in 1883.
He married Mary Ann King (1850-1950) in the spring of 1878 at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They had two children.
- Myrtle (1884-1952) – married Ernest Glanville Hicks in 1909
- Acacia (1886-1976) – married Leonard Saywell Tarrant in 1910
Charles died on 7 October 1888 at Hawera, Taranaki, New Zealand
