  • I have a book Ventures of Faith, the story of Kettering Road Primitive Methodist Church, Northampton. A Souvenir of the Jubilee Celebrations from Sept 22nd – Oct 10th 1927. It describes a meeting in March 1876 when Rev George Bennett was called to the ministry on a salary of £10/10/- a quarter. He had originally come to the town as a Hired Local Preacher. ‘Mr Bennett was full of zeal and a veritable Trojan for work’.’Especially among the youngmen was his work productive of good’ In 1914 he became President of the Conference and for many years he has been the respected editor of the weekly paper of the Connexion.
