Bracewell, Samuel (1831-1909)
Early Years
Samuel was born on 1 May 1831 at Silsden, Yorkshire, to parents Henry Bracewell and Grace Tillotson. He was baptised on 22 May 1831 at Silsden.
In 1851, Samuel was living with his maternal grandparents, working as a nail maker.
Family
Samuel married Elizabeth Smith (1833-1866) in the spring of 1857 at St Austell, Cornwall. They travelled to Victoria, Australia in 1858/9 on the ship ‘Planet’, arriving on 19 January 1859 at Port Phillip Bay. Records identify four children.
- Elizabeth Priscilla (1858-1947) – married Walter James Parker
- Catherine Anne (1860-1939) – married Henry Thomas Hayman
- Louisa Ellen Tryphena (1861-1936) – married William Goyen
- Angelina Tryphosa (1864-1936) – married James Henry Cain, a Wesleyan minister
Samuel married Louisa Gillingham (1832-1912) in 1867. Records identify two children.

Samuel died on 31 May 1909 at South Yarra, Melbourne, Australia.
