Calvert, John (1804-1833)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by S Smith

February 19, 1833, died John Calvert, Primitive Methodist Travelling Preacher. The last time he preached, was December 2, 1832. He was seized with a liver complaint, which terminated fatally. During his affliction, his patience was great, his faith firm, his hope blooming. He appeared for weeks to wait for his Master’s call. He fell asleep, gloriously happy in God, aged 29. He was an acceptable preacher, a beloved colleague; strict in discipline, and earnestly promoting a present salvation.

John was possibly baptised on 13 November 1803 at Preston, Lancashire, with his parents named Richard and Fanny.

John died on 19 February 1833. He was buried on 22 February 1833 at North Meols, Lancashire.
