Family
Samuel was born in 1843 at Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. His mother Ann had married Richard Haslam, a framework knitter by the time of the 1851 census.
The 1871 census return describes Samuel as a book agent and PM local preacher. In 1881 he is recorded as an evangelist. The 1901 census shows him as a PM minister at Abergavenny.
He married Ann Hall, nee Pratt (1832-1912) in the spring of 1876 at Nottingham.
Samuel died on 21 January 1902 in the Abergavenny Registration District, Monmouthshire.
