Edward was born abt1853 at Douglas, Isle of Man, to parents Robert, a labourer, and Catherine. He was baptised on 6 April 1853 at Onchan, isle of Man.
He married Elizabeth Bradbury Simpson (1853-1905) in the summer of 1882 at London Rd PM chapel, Buxton, Derbyshire. Census returns identify two children.
- Mona Catherine (1886-1950) – married Amos Goodridge Hall, an assistant grocer (1911), in 1909
- Dora Alice (1889-1983) – married Samuel Dodd, an engineer inspector (1939), in 1911
After leaving the ministry Edward became a traveller for building materials.
He died in the summer of 1930 at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. He was buried on 2 September 1930 in Greater Manchester.
