Richard was born on 18 September 1808 at Shipley, Yorkshire.
Ministry
Whilst at Oswestry, Richard provided support to the Lisburn mission in Ireland. Several small societies were formed.
Family
Richard married Mary Anna Elizabeth Moore in 1834. She was born on 13 October 1809 and died on 7 April 1868. Census returns identify eleven children.
