Davies, William (1873-1945)

Transcription of obituary published in the Minutes of Conference

WILLIAM DAVIES: born at Glasgow in 1873. He entered the Primitive Methodist Ministry 1898. He was undemonstrative, with no trace of self-seeking, but he loved his people and was always welcome in their homes. He prepared for the pulpit with thoroughness and always stressed the evangelical message. His pastoral devotion was appreciated in all his circuits, while his cheerfulness and humour endeared him to many hearts. He was a faithful colleague and true friend, who never shirked the duties of a circuit minister. He retired in 1942 and lived at Colne, Lancashire, where he continued to serve the Church he loved. He passed peacefully to his reward in the Homeland on 5th March 1945, in his seventy-second year and the forty-seventh of his ministry.
