Family
George was born in early 1872 at Eston, Yorkshire, to parents Robert, an iron stone miner, and Mary. Robert died in 1878 in a mining accident.
Before entering the ministry George was a siding minder at an ironstone mine (1891).
He married Alice Jackson (1871-1940) on 4 July 1901 at St Lawrence, Norwell, Nottinghamshire. Census returns and birth records identify three children,
- Gwendoline Cynthia Ann (1907-1981) – married Henry Francis Gordon Corfield, a doctor, in 1932; married John C. Opie, a school teacher, in 1951
- Eric Jackson (1909-1966) – a master chemist (1939)
- Keith Beresford (1914-1977) – an Anglican clergyman (1939)
George became an Anglican cleric. he died on 15 October 1928 at Soundwell Vicarage, Bristol, Gloucestershire.
