Gerrard, Herbert Shaw, MB, ChB (1886)

Attached is a transcription of an article published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine, 1927, which describes the mission hospital on Gerrard’s return from furlough.

Family

Herbert was born on 25 August 1886 at Swinton, Lancashire, to parents Thomas Lee Gerrard, a builder, and Emily. 

Herbert was schooled at Elmfield College (1901). The 1911 census return records Herbert as a medical student.

He married Doris Watson (1895-1977) in early 1915 at Hull, Yorkshire. the 1933 Who’s Who of Methodism identified they had one son and two daughters in 1933.

Herbert died on 17 August 1969 in Manchester, Lancashire.
