Gibson, Richard (1804-1835)

A transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by Samuel Tillotson. It describes his early life and conversion. His progress through the stations is recorded in a series of letters to his widowed mother.

Family

Richard was born on 10 April 1804 nr Blyth, Northumberland, to parents Richard Gibson and Jane Watson. he was baptised on 4 May 1804 at Salem Chapel, Hood Street, formerly Bethel Methodist New Connexion, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He married Jane Whitehead on 7 June 1833 at St Peter, Bolton le Moors, Lancashire. They had a son who died in infancy.

Richard died on 5 January 1835 at Wrexham, Denbighshire. He was buried on 9 January 1835 at Wrexham.
