Giles, John Thomas (1850-1922)

Family

John was born in 1850 at Trevethin, Monmouthshire, to parents Thomas Giles, a PM minister, and Mercy Bugden.

Census returns identify the following occupations for John.

• 1871 saddler
• 1881 teacher
• 1891 photographer’s collector
• 1901 paster of PM Church – Barrow in Furness
• 1911 PM lay minister – Rhondda

He married Susan Elizabeth Cadman (abt1850-1926) in early 1877 in the Thanet Registration District, Kent.

John died in the summer of 1922 at Dover, Kent.

The date of his marriage coincides with his departure from the itinerant ministry.
