  • On the basis that ministers sometimes migrated to other denominations I looked at the Surman Index (of Congregational ministers) and found Edward Jeffery who came from Faversham in August 1852 to accept an invitation from Emsworth chapel in Hampshire, and then moved in March 1855 to Oulton in Norfolk. He moved again to Cheadle in 1862, but disappeared soon after. Newspaper articles, and Norfolk electoral registers firmly locate him in Oulton, but he seems to have had the same aversion to census enumerators and registrars as E. Jeffrey. Does this help, or do others have more accurate information?
