Johnson, James (2)

Ministry

The first PM worship in Carlisle took place in a Hat Warehouse. James was one of the first Primitive Methodists in Carlisle. When he was first called out by the Carlisle Circuit to travel he was sent to open a mission in Glasgow. Petty records that he was actually sent from Sunderland in July 1826. Four years later he was sent to Paisley.

The Carlisle Circuit Plan for Q3, 1826 identifies J Johnson – Missionary to Scotland.

Leary has entries for a James Johnson and J Johnson. I suspect that they are the same person and have thus created just one page. Leary also ascribes two references to Journal extracts published in the PM Magazine, however these are clearly Journal extracts for James Johnson (1).

Family

I have not been able to identify James Johnson in online records. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
