Family

Rufus was born on 4 October 1877 at Skipton, Yorkshire, to parents William John Kirkland, a PM minister, and Harriet Moses.

The family arrived in Canada on 16 August 1920.

He married Elizabeth Jane Snaith (1877-1954) in the spring of 1902 in the Glendale Registration District, Northumberland. Elizabeth was the daughter of Rev John Snaith. Records identify fifteen children.
