GEORGE PREECE: born in 1878, at Aston Pigot, Worthen, Shropshire. For thirty-six years he laboured faithfully, and in every circuit it was his joy to see increased congregations and to make considerable additions to the roll of members.
He was a man of wide interests. Every department of the Church profited by his counsel and activity. His preaching reflected careful preparation. He set great store by his pastoral opportunities and in his visiting was methodical and tireless. Wherever he ministered he was always well known to those outside the Church, and was the means of helping many to a deep religious experience. He had considerable administrative gifts.
He was still in the active work when he was called home on July 21, 1942.
George was born in 1878 at Aston Pigot, Worthen, Shropshire, to parents George, a farm bailiff (1881), and Elizabeth.
He married Clarice Rosina Bosworth (1879-1951) in 1910 at Coventry, Warwickshire. Birth records identify two children.
