Family
Robert was born in June 1848 at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, to parents William, who worked the land, and Eliza.
He married Mary Ann Ladd (1846-1931) in the summer of 1875 in the Mile End Old Town Registration District, London. Census returns identify six children.
- William Robert (1876-1917) – a commercial traveller (1901); a press advertising representative (1911); died in WW1 at Ypres
- Annie Bertha (abt1878-1935) – married George Pickett, an actor (1911), in 1909; divorced in 1916 ; married Thomas D Hancock in 1922
- Edgar B (b abt1880) – a theatrical manager and cinema graphist (1911)
- Jennie Gertrude (1880-1916) – wholesale mantle saleswoman (1911); married Reginald P Webster in 1915
- Eveline (1885-1973) – telephone operator – Stock Exchange; married Bertram Walter Filer Starling in 1913; married Albert Francis in 1926
- Horace (1887-1949) – an insurance clerk (1911); an accountant (1919)
Robert died on 29 December 1919 at Croydon, Surrey.
