Paul was one of two missionaries sent from Leeds circuit to London in December 1822.
Family
Based on the birth of daughter Hannah at Ketley, Shropshire abt1827, this was probably Paul Sugden, born in 1799 at Keighley, Yorkshire.

He married Alice Calverley (1801-1864) on 5 December 1819 at St Peter, Bradford, Yorkshire. Census returns identify eight children.
- Susy (1821-1901) – a worsted power loom weaver (1861); married Benjamin Smith, a chapel keeper (1881), in 1865
- Martha (1823-1873) – married David Heap, an overlooker, in 1844
- Mary (b abt1826)
- Hannah (abt1827-1915) – a stuff weaver (1861); married Joseph Bland, a farmer, in 1866
- James (b abt1830)
- Jonas (b1833) – a worsted power loom operator (1851); an overlooker (1861); grocer (1871)
- Ann (b1836) – a power loom weaver (1861)
- Dinah (1838-1904) – a milliner (1881)
Paul died in October 1851 at Keighley, Yorkshire. He was buried on 29 October 1851.
